Cognizant, one of the world’s largest IT services providers, and Google Cloud are expanding their partnership to help clients move agentic AI from pilots to production.
They are creating a Gemini Frontier Capability Group backed by more than 18,000 Cognizant associates. The group will focus initially on legacy modernization, developer experience, autonomous business process automation and cybersecurity, they said in a joint announcement.
The companies also disclosed an early client result: Cognizant said integrating Gemini models across the software development lifecycle for a leading retailer produced a 40% increase in developer productivity, cut time to market by 30% and reduced costs by 35%.
More than 55,000 Cognizant employees have completed the Build with Gemini workshop. Cognizant is also deploying Gemini internally to 100,000 associates this year, with plans to scale to 200,000.
The new group plans to use standardized agentic architectures built on Model Context Protocol and Google Cloud’s Model Armor. Planned enterprise applications include retail support agents, a health care agent marketplace and multi-agent order-to-cash workflows for manufacturers.
“Deploying AI agents at scale requires trusted partners with deep architectural and integration expertise,” Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said in a statement.
Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S said the dedicated group will focus its engineering talent on “getting frontier AI into production for clients.”
