Amazon Q Developer, the tech giant’s coding assistant, is now supporting multiple languages, addressing a critical need in software development.
The new languages being supported are Mandarin, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Korean, Hindi, Portuguese and others.
This enhancement lets developers worldwide interact with the AI-powered assistant in their native languages, breaking down barriers in global software development.
“By expanding language support, Amazon Q Developer now enables developers to have more natural, fluid conversations about complex technical concepts in their preferred language,” according to an AWS blog post.
While programming languages themselves remain largely standardized, the communication around development processes – architectural discussions, documentation, and interface design – are not.
Amazon Q Developer now enables these technical conversations to happen in multiple languages, maintaining technical accuracy while adapting to linguistic nuances.

With this expansion, developers can now receive complete responses to technical queries in several languages. AWS said technical accuracy is maintained across the supported languages.
In addition, “Q Developer now suggests follow-up questions and responses in the user’s chosen language, creating a more intuitive and seamless experience for developers worldwide. This natural flow of conversation in any language helps maintain the developer’s focus and flow, eliminating the mental overhead of constant translation,” according to AWS.
The expanded language support is immediately available in integrated development environments (IDEs) and command line interfaces (CLI), with AWS Management Console support coming soon.
