Amazon to Invest $5 Billion More in Anthropic

Amazon announced that it will invest an additional $5 billion in Anthropic, with the potential to commit up to $20 billion more over time, deepening a partnership central to the AI infrastructure race.

The deal values Anthropic at $350 billion, below its recent $380 billion funding round and far under investor interest reportedly topping $800 billion, suggesting Amazon secured favorable terms, according to Bloomberg News.

Anthropic, maker of the Claude chatbot, plans to spend more than $100 billion over the next decade on Amazon’s cloud and chips.

Amazon, already an $8 billion backer, gains a major customer for its Trainium chips and strengthens its cloud position. Anthropic benefits from access to Amazon Web Services’ enterprise base, where more than 100,000 customers use Claude.

The startup is seeking revenue growth ahead of a potential IPO while securing massive computing capacity through deals spanning Amazon, Broadcom and Alphabet.
