AWS has introduced its latest and most advanced AI chip, the Trainium3, to reduce its dependence on Nvidia GPUs.
The cloud giant said the new processor delivers four times the speed of its earlier AI chips and can cut training and operating costs for AI models with equivalent GPU-based systems. The chip aims to give developers a lower-cost alternative for AI processing.
The launch comes amid a broader shift as Meta explores purchasing Google’s TPUs and OpenAI signs deals with AMD and Broadcom. Nvidia remains dominant, but AWS’s growing customer base highlights rising demand for more diversified AI-chip suppliers.
