OpenAI is expanding ChatGPT’s role in business software through integrations with Oracle and ServiceNow that aim to let employees access company information and complete approved tasks through the chatbot.
The Oracle announcement and ServiceNow announcement signal a push to make ChatGPT an interface for business applications, rather than simply a tool for answering questions and drafting documents.
Oracle plans to let employees use ChatGPT to access finance, procurement and planning data through Oracle AI Workspace. Workers could investigate expenses, review purchasing decisions and identify tasks needed to close monthly accounts.
ServiceNow is bringing workflows into ChatGPT so employees can investigate IT incidents, assess risks and update records. Its Action Fabric technology is intended to enforce business rules and user permissions.
Oracle is also introducing OpenAI-powered products for security, application development and smaller businesses. The companies say Oracle has 130,000 active ChatGPT users and more than 95,000 active Codex users.
ServiceNow plans to extend OpenAI technology into application development, cybersecurity and voice-based workflows. Additional capabilities are expected in late 2026 and 2027. ServiceNow also plans to provide ChatGPT Work and Codex to its employees.
The agreements could strengthen OpenAI’s position as a common entry point for business applications while potentially changing how employees interact with established software providers.
