Google to Add One-Click ‘Skills’ to Chrome

Google is rolling out a new feature in its Chrome browser that allows users to save and reuse AI prompts, aiming to streamline repetitive tasks across the web, according to a company blog post.

The feature, called “Skills,” enables users to store frequently used prompts and run them with a single click across multiple tabs without retyping.

Users can create customized workflows, such as comparing product specifications, analyzing documents or calculating nutrition information. Google said early testers have used the feature for tasks in shopping, productivity and health.

For example, a user can type “analyze the recipe on the current webpage. Identify all ingredients and estimate their protein content.” After the prompt runs, there will be an option to save the prompt.

Access saved Skills by signing in to Chrome, opening Gemini in a side panel from the three dots next to your profile, typing forward slash (/) and clicking the compass icon.

The company is also launching a library of prebuilt Skills for common use cases, which users can modify.

Google said the feature includes existing safeguards from Gemini, including confirmation prompts for sensitive actions like sending emails. Skills will sync across signed-in desktop devices as the rollout begins.
