Yahoo has launched Yahoo Scout, a new AI-powered search engine designed to deliver direct, synthesized responses to user queries as search shifts from links to conversational answers.
The tool is rolling out in beta across Yahoo Search and Yahoo’s broader portfolio, reaching nearly 250 million U.S. users on desktop and mobile. Yahoo Scout draws on open web content alongside Yahoo’s own data and content, presenting answers with structured lists, tables, rich media and source transparency, the company said.
Yahoo said Scout is informed by decades of user data, including hundreds of millions of user profiles and a large internal knowledge graph, allowing it to deliver more personalized and context-aware results. The company positioned the product as a blend of traditional search and generative AI, tailored to everyday use cases such as news, finance, sports, shopping and weather.
Yahoo said it partnered with Anthropic, using its Claude model as Scout’s primary foundation model, and is also leveraging Microsoft’s Bing grounding API. The company said Yahoo Scout will expand with additional features and advertising capabilities in the coming months.
Yahoo Scout is available in beta and in the Yahoo Search app on mobile.
