Cloud giant AWS is giving away $230 million worth of credits, mentorship and education for early-stage generative AI startups from around the world.
The AWS credits come in the form of access to compute, storage and databases, including its AI chips Trainium and Inferentia 2. The credits can also be used for Amazon Sagemaker, a fully managed service for building and training models, plus access to its genAI app platform, Amazon Bedrock.

Part of the support will be for the second group of startups in the AWS Generative AI Accelerator, which offers hands-on expertise and $1 million in AWS credits to its 80 chosen startups. The incubator seeks startups that are solving complex problems in finance, health care and life sciences, media and entertainment and other areas.
Startups will be matched with business and technical experts by vertical. They also will have access to industry experts, technology and technical sessions from Nvidia. They will be invited to join the Nvidia Inception program as well.
The deadline to apply to AWS’ 10-week program is July 19. Startups can apply here.
AWS will announce the chosen startups on Sept. 10. The program starts on Oct. 1 at Amazon’s headquarters in Seattle. All 80 startups will showcase their businesses at the AWS re:Invent 2024, slated for Dec. 2-6 in Las Vegas.
